Get free drive-through COVID-19 testing through November 20

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Anyone who is a Texas resident can get a free swab test to check for COVID-19 now through Friday, November 20 at the Williamson County Expo Center, located at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail, Taylor, Texas. Hours for testing are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., or until supplies run out.

Testing is a drive-through event with no prior appointment required. Officials ask that a person not eat, drink or use tobacco products within 20 minutes of being tested. Please bring a cell phone in order to complete the on-site registration.

Testing is being done in cooperation with Williamson County Office of Emergency Management and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

The active cases in Wilco remains relatively low, with a current count of 404. Hospitalized are 54 people, with an estimated number of 10,621 cases of recovery from the virus. There have been 160 deaths, according to information on the Williamson County website.

Those persons without insurance will have the testing costs covered by Williamson County, and most insurance companies are covering the costs of the tests.

According to the Wilco website, “The risk of infection with COVID-19 is higher for people who are close contacts of someone known to have COVID-19, for example healthcare workers, or household members. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have recently been in an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19.”
