One Open Ride Arena day left before the end of 2020 at Expo Center

TAYLOR, Texas — Horse riders have one more chance to participate in Open Arena Ride Time at the Williamson County Expo Center, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail, located in Taylor, Texas. This event is open to all riders with varying degrees of experience and ability. The cost is $20 for a wristband. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

Riders will first need to stop by the Southwest main entrance of the EXPO administrative building to purchase a wristband and get a COVID-19 screening before entering the arena or unloading. Riders are required to wear a face mask or face covering.

To participate in Open Arena Ride Time, riders are to sign a Horse Riding Event General Liability Release Form, have current Coggins paperwork for each horse.

  • Riders will have access to the Main Arena as well as the covered Warm-Up Arena.
  • Barrels, poles, jumps and all other obstacles are not allowed during Open Arena Ride Times.
  • Unattended or loose horses are prohibited.
  • Riders must be respectful and courteous to other riders sharing the arena.
  • A mask or face covering is required at all times when not in the arena.

The Williamson County Expo Center is on 95 acres of former Blackland Prairie farm land. Throughout history, the communities from surrounding area relied heavily on the dark clay and rich fertile lands for production agriculture. Williamson County Expo Center is home the Annual Taylor Rodeo. The Annual Taylor Rodeo celebrates the rich tradition and heritage of “The Great American Cowboy.”

Taylor is the hometown of the legendary rodeo cowboy and National Rodeo Hall of Famer, Bill Pickett, for whom the street is named. A life-size bronze statue of Pickett was installed in 2017 in downtown Taylor at the corner of 2nd Street and Main Street.
