GEORGETOWN, Texas — Yet another event has been eliminated for this holiday season due to concerns about potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, officials from Downtown Georgetown Association have announced.

In past years, the annual event held in the square was the Christmas Stroll, which in past years has featured vendors set up throughout downtown and live music. Each year hundreds of visitors attend.

Holly Day Market was to take place on four streets around the courthouse in downtown, with city approval given. However, with hundreds of visitors and likely difficulty to enforce social distancing and the wearing of masks, the decision had to be made to cancel the event for safety reasons.

TreeFamilies who yet want to purchase a live Christmas tree for their homes have a number of options in the area.
