HUTTO, Texas — Despite a number of Christmas activities in the area canceled due to increasing numbers of cases of COVID-19, the Downtown Hutto Christmas Fair is on schedule for Saturday, December 12. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along East and Farley Streets. The event is free to attend.
There will not be any children’s activities this year, nor the traditional snow area. Vendor booths will be spaced 10 feet apart. Face coverings are required to be worn by all who attend. Handwashing and sanitizing stations will be located throughout the event.
In years past, there have been about 8,000 people who attend. In years past, the event was Old Town Christmas, which included a tree lighting and breakfast with Santa. Due to COVID-19, the event has been scaled back for 2020.
Hutto, established in 1876, is located 27 miles northeast of downtown Austin, with restored historic homes and a 35-acre retail development called the “Co-op District.” It is a mixed-use development on Highway 79, featuring shopping, entertainment and residences on the old “Gin” property. The new City Hall and City Library are located in the development.
Leasing agent for the property for those interested in living there or opening a business is McAllister & Associates. Contact Boyd Harris at 512-947-0375 or Joe Willie McAllister at 12-784-1143 for information.
