ROUND ROCK, Texas — One week in advance of Halloween, Operation Blue Santa is hosting a drive-through event for anyone who wants to pick up candy and view decorated trunks at “Trunk or Treat.” Yes, costumes are welcome.
Join the fun from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center (PSTC), 2801 N. Mays Street. Visitors are asked to stay in their cars to receive treats. Donations of toys and money are welcome and will benefit the Operation Blue Santa program.
Those who wish to participate in the decorations can reserve a trunk or booth for the event. Contact Ivonne Duran via email at iduran@roundrocktexas.gov to find out details.
How to get there: Enter on East Old Settlers Road, if from coming the east. Turn right on Greenhill Drive, then another right onto North Mays Street. Follow the signs for entry to the South Gate of the PSTC. If driving from west of I-35, drive past North Mays on East Old Settlers, then turn left at the light on Greenhill Drive and follow the signs. Please do not try to turn left onto North May Street.
Organizers advise the public to plan on a multi-hour experience, and to be sure to have enough gas in your vehicle’s gas tank for the wait. Candy will be handed out to occupants from both sides of each vehicle. Parents may want to plan on having nutritional snacks with them to give to children while waiting. There are no restrooms available for anyone’s use. Volunteers working the event will be wearing face masks. All guests will be asked to remain in their cars while participating in this drive-through event.
