GEORGETOWN, Texas — Families, friends and individuals can enjoy a “Back to the Future” movie marathon night on New Year’s Eve at the Georgetown Palace Theater to say goodbye to 2020. The facility is at 810 S. Austin Ave. Guests are invited to wear costumes appropriate to these films set in the 1980s and possibly win a prize. Price of admission will be donations, based on what guests are able to pay.
The three-film event begins at 5 p.m. with the original classic, “Back to the Future.” Parts 2 and 3 follow, beginning at 7:30 and 10 p.m., respectively. There will be a 30-minute break between each film.
Reservations are required, which will be for all three movies, however, patrons can arrive or leave at any time throughout the evening.
Masks are required to be worn at all times. The Palace capacity indoors is limited to 25 percent due to Covid-19 restrictions. Every other row is left empty and there will be two empty seats between each group of patrons. Staff has installed improved air filters and increased its outdoor air intake to allow for complete air replacement every 30 minutes. Temperature checks will be done at the door before guests may enter. Sanitizing of all surfaces is regularly done.
The Palace will honor any gift certificates or flex passes from 2019 and 2020. They can be rolled over and will remain valid in 2021.
In addition, “A Tuna Christmas” wraps up its performances this weekend, with shows on the Springer Stage with performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 18 through December 20. A Tuna Christmas is a comedy set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas about a Christmas Yard Display Contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp. A mysterious “Christmas Phantom,” known for vandalizing the yard displays, has the contestants on edge.
