PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — As everyone knows, public events have undergone many changes in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditional Christmas events are no different.
The City of Pflugerville has announced that its annual Pfestival of Lights will be a drive-through event only instead of the traditional downtown parade with craft-making and entertainment on stage as in years past.
First Street’s name is being changed to “Candy Cane Lane” just for the event, which is set for Friday, December 4 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Vehicles will be directed to head south on Railroad Avenue, turn west onto Main Street, then north onto Candy Cane Lane and into the parking lot behind City Hall in downtown Pflugerville. (see map)
Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa Claus will collect letters from children. Carolers will be on hand, and guests can view the annual holiday tree and other decorations, and get a goodie bag.
In years past, the parade has been coordinated with the Pflugerville Knights of Columbus Council #10373, which has canceled the parade this year due to the pandemic. It was to be held on December 5, according to the KofC calendar.
However, the Knights invite the public to support the organization through purchase of nuts, pies and candied treats. More information is available online.
Other events happening as schedule in Pflugerville include the Pfestive Pfarmers Market, held at the Recreation Center from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select Tuesday during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.
