ROUND ROCK, Texas — Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to all Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) students starting Monday, November 2, according to a post on the RRISD website.
The district has received a waiver based on applying to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program called “Seamless Summer Option.” It permits both on-campus and students learning at home to get the free meals at curbside pick-up locations for those ages 18 and younger. Hours for meal distribution are 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. The meal distribution will not take place, however, on the days of scheduled breaks and holidays.
Children are not required to be present during the meal pick-up, as a result of this new waiver. Parents or guardians have to provide proof of having school-age children, such as showing an official email from the school stating a particular student is enrolled, student report cards, attendance records, birth certificate or student identification cards.
Additional benefits are available to families who apply and receive approval from the Free and Reduced meal program. This provides college application fees to be waived and also free fees for SAT and online SAT programs.
The curbside meal distribution sites starting November 2 are:
- Round Rock High School, 201 Deep Wood Dr., Round Rock
- Cedar Ridge High School, 2801 Gattis School Rd., Round Rock
