WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Area residents can treat themselves and their families to a unique Saturday photo opportunity at Berry Springs Park and Preserve on Saturday, December 5. County officials are allowing the public to visit the resident donkeys, Lil Bob and Pedro, and pose for pictures with them.
Sponsored by the Friends of Berry Springs Park and Preserve, the hours designated for taking the photos are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. They can be taken at the old barn on site in front of the donkey compound, located at 1801 CR 152 in Georgetown, Texas. The public can learn more about the Friends organization and how to become a supporter.
Volunteers from the Friends of Berry Springs Park will be on site to assist with the donkeys and to help families capture just the right images in a specified area.
Covid-19 cleanliness and safety protocols will be in place, and all visitors are asked to wear masks.
The park has a 2.5 mile hike and bike trail which officials plan to eventually connect to the City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation trails. Horseback riding is permitted at Berry Springs Park between March and October, and riders are asked to become familiar with the park’s guidelines for horses and riders.
Overnight campsites and pavilion use require advance reservations. Electricity is available at specific locations.
Funds raised by the nonprofit group Friends of Berry Springs Park are used to “promote awareness of and to accomplish projects in coordination” with the parks staff.
