City of Georgetown to close portions of I-35 overnight through January 7

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Work crews will pour new concrete deck overnight on portions of Interstate 35 in Georgetown, requiring that some sections of the highway be closed overnight. Closures will begin at 9 p.m. now through January 7, according to city officials. The area affected is north of Williams Drive.

Northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane for the work to be done. However, on Thursday, January 7, all southbound I-35 lanes will be closed, and traffic diverted to the frontage road in the area. Road signs are currently in place to notify drivers of the overnight work and closures.

The Northwest Boulevard bridge with be a new east-west connection that will span I-35 and be an alternative route to Williams Drive. Rivery Boulevard will be connected by the new bridge to FM971 on the east. The work will be completed in early 2021, though a specific week or month has not been noted.
