GEORGETOWN, Texas — Three hundred city residents will be given a voucher to be able to drop off household hazardous waste items on Wednesday, November 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event has to be limited due to long lines that formed that last time Georgetown held this event. “Our last time didn’t go as smoothly as any of us wanted to, and we sincerely apologize to those who sat in long lines or were turnd away and did not have the best experience,” said Public Works Director Ray Miller in a post on the city’s website.
Residents can get a voucher to participate by calling 512-930-3640 or send an email to customercare@georgetown.org
There will be two unloading areas, a new traffic pattern, and additional staff to assist at the site. The waste items will be held at the old show barn in San Gabriel Park, 425 W. Morrow St.
COVID-19 restrictions will be in place, and city staff ask that residents remain in their vehicles for the no-contact collection. City staff will unload items from the back seat or trunk of all participants’ vehicles. Items are required to be in their original marked containers, such as batteries, car batteries, pool and spa chemicals, transmission fluid and more. To see a complete list of what is allowed and not allowed to be dropped off, see the city’s website.
Williamson County will host a hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, November 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Williamson County Expo Center, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor, Texas.
