ROUND ROCK, Texas — A new fire station built by the City of Round Rock was official opened on Thursday, December 10, according to a news release. It is located at 221 Sundance Parkway in the La Frontera Shopping Center.

The new station replaces the previous Station 3 on Rawhide Drive that was built in 1991.

Station 3 in its new location will serve the southwest area of the city, including La Frontera, the Chisholm Valley neighborhood and Dell Campus. The location was chosen after analysis of its easy access to major roadways.

“People move to this city because of safety; this fire station makes our citizens even more safe,” said Mayor Craig Morgan in a statement posted online.

The new fire station was paid for with funding from a voter-approved bond election held in 2013. The total cost of construction was $4,791,500, according to city officials. There are seven fire stations within the city of Round Rock with strategic planning and management overseen by Fire Chief Robert Isbell, who has been on staff since 2016.

Operations of the Round Rock Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management also fall under the jurisdiction of the Round Rock Fire Department.
