ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Round Rock Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on Thursday night to authorize payment of $500 to each ISD employee. It will be a one-time, lump-sum payment which will come from the current fund balance, according to RRISD Chief Financial Officer Dr. Kenneth Adix. The fund balance is similar to a savings account, according to school officials.
Acting Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel Presley brought the resolution authorizing the payment to the Trustees at the Board’s request as an effort to retain, recognize and support staff during this school year with the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to information posted on the RRISD website.
As many have lost jobs or have reduced income due to the restrictions in these times of a COVID-19 pandemic, this money will assist those in need. On a national level, talks continue about what the federal government will do for its citizens. However, in these last days of the Trump administration and the coming inauguration, nothing can be finalized until the change is in place.
