ROUND ROCK, Texas — Parents with students attending Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) schools may be interested in an action being taken at an upcoming special meeting called for Friday, November 13. Normally the members of the RRISD Board of Trustees meet monthly, and the November meeting is set for Thursday, November 12.

On the published agenda for November 12, first quarter student achievement and year-to-date attendance data will be presented by Dr. Danny Presley, Mandy Estes, and Dr. Cathy Malerba. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The special meeting set for Friday evening is significant in that the Trustees will consider the resignation and voluntary separation agreement of current RRISD Superintendent Dr. Steve Flores. The Board had discussed Dr. Flores’s contract, including his incentive and performance payment, at a meeting held Tuesday, November 2, according to the published agenda.

Dr. Flores has spent the past seven years as RRISD Superintendent, starting in October 2013. He was previously Assistant Superintendent at Pflugerville ISD and Round Rock ISD. He has received numerous awards in his career, including being named the 2020 Texas Parent-Teacher Association Superintendent of the Year. His wife, Amy, teaches at Hutto ISD, and they together have two sons.

Parents may watch the proceedings online. The meeting on Friday is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with only the Board of Trustees physically present due to restrictions with COVID-19.
