Williamson County Commissioners will not hold regular meeting on January 5

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Williamson County Commissioners will not hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January 5. The next meeting is instead set for Tuesday, January 12 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Meetings are held at the Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main St., Georgetown.

Commissioners held a special meeting at Noon on Saturday, January 1, 2021, wherein new officials were sworn into office. Commissioners also heard and accepted the auditor’s report. Residents can view the meeting live online.

In 2021, discussion will begin in regard to the statue of a Confederate soldier that stands in front of the courthouse. According to information published in the Austin American0-Statesman on December 31, the commissioners have a committee in place to study the issue. The statue was put in place in 1916, a gift from the Daughters of the Conferacy.

Jim Dillon next had two minutes at the meeting on January 1 in which to make public comment, per his request. He spoke about the newly elected officials who swore to uphold the oaths of their office, commenting  next about President Donald Trump, whom he said he feels is the best president the U.S. has had. The consent agenda was approved, which included the acceptance of the applications of new employees, including those who were sworn in.
