GEORGETOWN, Texas — Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) has 14-plus acres of land up for sale since McCoy Elementary School was demolished on the site last year. The acreage is zoned Commercial, and sits northwest of the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and State Highway 29, at 1313 Williams Dr.
The land is assessed at a value of $3,620,114. An appraisal on the land was completed in May 2020.
The Willis Company, LLC, is handling the listing of the property that is 14.71 acres, which are made up of two tracts, one measuring 12.7 acres and the other 2.01 acres. A Request for Proposals is pending, according to information on the GISD website.
The school was demolished after the GISD Board of Trustees gave approval in March 2019. A new McCoy school was built at 401 Bellaire Dr. and staff moved to Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning.

McCoy Elementary currently serves 600 students in grades K-5, and has earned four Gold Performance Acknowledgements from the Texas Education Agency in past years for:
- Commended Reading
- Commended Science
- Comparable Improvement in Reading
- Comparable Improvement in Math
Jennifer Guidry serves as the school’s principal.
The original Ray McCoy Elementary School was first opened in 1964, and for a time was named Northside Middle School. In 1993, the school was named in honor of Mrs. Raye Baldwin McCoy, who had been a teacher of Spanish from 1949 to 1977 in GISD.
