ROUND ROCK, Texas — Since 2013, First United Methodist Church started its program to provide Thanksgiving meals to low income families. The count at that time stood at 60 families served. Last year, the church provided 275 families a meal that included traditional Thanksgiving food. The church focuses on serving those families with children attending Berkman, Gattis, Double File, Callison Robertson, Union Hill, Voigt, and Success High School, in addition to Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Armed Forces Reserve Center and more. Food will be delivered on Tuesday, November 17.
FUMC is located at 1004 North Mays.
The church asks the community to please volunteer to assist in up to three ways:
Provide a meal: Online donations of forty dollars is suggested. Members of the church will do the shopping and filling of the bags. An option is to download the shopping list and deliver the groceries purchased to the church during November.
Shop for meals: Donors can shop for the meals on their own schedule and drop them off at the church main office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Groceries can also be accepted on Sundays during worship hours at the Twin Oaks Mission Center on or before Sunday, November 15. Shoppers are asked to only provide the items that are on the church’s shopping list.
Volunteer to deliver bags: Delivery day is Tuesday, November 15, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers are asked to complete an online application.
